The Carbon Zero Youth Initiative, Inc. (CZYI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that develops educational resources about green construction, sustainable building materials, and related career opportunities.
Founded in 2023, the CZYI builds on lessons learned from a Girl Scout troop's advocacy project (see our story), highlighting the importance of engaging youth in the sustainability of the built environment.
The CZYI aims to support public empower professionals working towards a better built environment to share their work and inspire youth in their communities.
Guided by "Buildy Green" a friendly green building character, the CZYI's outreach tools include a just-released story, games, and activities. The CZYI's resources are designed to be accessible, heartwarming, and fun for youth at home, in classrooms, and at educational events and programs.
