Julia Pooler , MBA
With a background in communications, youth programs, and a passion for sustainability and STEM, Julia founded the CZYI to scale the reach of a Girl Scout troop take-action project about embodied carbon. As troop leader, Julia was inspired by the power of youth voices for the future and the skills-building, confidence, and career exposure youth gain from real-world action. Julia is also a co-lead for the Wisconsin Hub of the Carbon Leadership Forum.

Karin O'Brien, PE
Karin T. O’Brien is an engineer who has served the concrete industry for over 20 years, specializing in sustainability, materials (admixtures, cement and aggregate production), concrete materials testing and specifications across the globe. She currently serves as the Executive Director of the Missouri Chapter of the American Concrete Institute, is a licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois, and a Girl Scout leader.

Jeanne Homer, RA
Jeanne Homer, AIA is an architect working at the American Institute of Steel Construction in University Relations. She is registered in Illinois and taught architecture at Oklahoma State University School of Architecture for 20 years.

Susan Fancy
Susan Fancy is the Associate Director of the Global CO2 Initiative at the University of Michigan. Her previous experience was in the automotive field commercializing innovations for battery and fuel cell electric vehicles at Ford Motor Company.

Ashley Cagle, PE
Ashley is a licensed professional and structural engineer and works as a Technical Director at WoodWorks. In this role, she leads the organization’s Embodied Carbon and LCA initiative, guiding project teams on the use of wood to reduce the carbon impact of the built environment.

James Baty is a professional manager for networking groups and associations. With over thirty years of experience training, educating and certifying in the concrete construction industry, his background in architecture is used to advance industries served to a more sustainable future.

Larry Sutter Ph.D. P.E. FASTM, FACI
Lawrence Sutter is a Professor Emeritus at Michigan Technological University and is the Principal of Sutter Engineering LLC in Houghton, Michigan. He serves on multiple committees of the American Concrete Institute and is a founding board member for NEU, the ACI's Center of Excellence for Carbon Neutral Concrete.
