EMPOWERING
YOUTH VOICES TO
DECARBONIZE
THE BUILT
ENVIRONMENT
The Embodied Carbon Youth Initiative engages students in the global movement to decarbonize the built environment while exploring careers and learning about the critical role of AEC (Architecture, Engineering and Construction) professionals and materials producers in addressing climate change.
Through communications training and mentoring, ECYI Youth Ambassadors accelerate local efforts to address embodied carbon by educating the public and encouraging immediate, high-impact climate action through building decisions in their local communities.
CALL TO ACTION
As seen by the rise in student-led climate change advocacy, youth support immediate action to address climate change and seek solutions-oriented careers.
From materials to design, the built environment offers huge potential for large-scale carbon reductions and CO2 sequestration.
Widespread adoption of best practices and innovative solutions requires increased awareness and public demand, and youth can play a pivotal role in driving a focus on embodied carbon in their communities.
